We are very excited to offer new training for all of our Substitute Teachers in Camden County.  This will be mandatory training in order to be an approved sub for the 2020-21 school year.

The VIRTUAL training is offered by the App-Garden University. There are many benefits to you as a sub such as the ability to train anytime and anywhere you have access to internet. It is so important that we as a district keep you current on the board policies and procedures as well as giving you great tips and ideas for being a successful substitute teacher. This training is required of all subs in order for our district to meet compliance requirements.

Camden County Schools Substitute Teacher Orientation Training is intended for RETURNING substitute teachers…. who hold a teaching certificate or who are ETT (Effective Teacher Training) certified. This course is $14.00.

Camden County Schools Orientation with Effective Substitute Teacher Training v.22 is intended for the FIRST TIME substitute teachers….who do not have an active teaching license. This course is $ 29.00

In addition to your district’s courses there is an introduction video which explains how to navigate through the courses and how to print your certificate. Watch this video first!

Once you complete this training course you may print a certificate of completion to keep for your record. The district office will be sent a report of your completion and this will also be a record of your intent to sub this year.

ALL SUBSTITUTES ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE THE REFRESHER COURSE ONCE A YEAR IN ORDER TO STAY ACTIVE IN THE SUBSTISTUTE SYSTEM.

In addition to the virtual training, new substitutes should complete the Substitute Teacher Application and submit the application to the Human Resources Department.

Once you have completed your Substitute Teacher Training and have been awarded a Certificate of Completion, please bring your Substitute Teacher Application to the Human Resources Office.  (We are located in the brick building directly across the street from Grandy Primary School- 174 NC Highway 343 North, Camden, NC 27921).

After we have received your application, we will conduct a criminal background check.  Once your criminal background check has found to be clear, we will submit your name to our Board of Education members for their approval at the next scheduled meeting.

After the Board meeting, we will reach out to you by letter informing you of the Board’s decision.  If you are approved we will  request that you to bring in your New Substitute Teacher Paperwork, which can be found by downloading the documents the link provided.

Please keep in mind that we CANNOT add you to our list unless ALL of your paperwork has been turned in to the Human Resources Office, including your NC Health Certificate.  The NC Health Certificate is required by NC State Law, and must be completed by a physician, physician’s assistant or nurse practitioner.
