Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,
Student and staff safety is our top priority. To reduce congestion on NC-343, separate bus and car traffic, and improve overall safety during arrival and dismissal, we are implementing an updated traffic pattern for car riders at Grandy Primary School and Camden Intermediate School starting on October, 20th 2025. A visual overview (map/diagram) accompanies this letter to help you see the new flow before our go-live date.
Whatโs Changing
Dedicated car line routing to keep buses and personal vehicles from mixing.
Queue extension utilizing the Community Park parking lot and the south CIS parking lot to keep vehicles off NC-343 during peak times.
Clear signage and staff direction at key decision points for smoother, safer movement.
Due to a change in the traffic pattern, sibling pickup will no longer be utilized.
Morning Drop-Off (GPS & CIS)
Enter the car line on Noblitt Drive following staff directions into the queue (where indicated on the map).
As directed by staff, pull forward to the designated student unloading zone in the west CIS parking lot (CIS main entrance); students should be ready to exit on the right/passenger side.
Do not park or exit vehicles in the active lane. If you need extra time, use a marked parking space.
After drop-off, follow the posted exit route to re-enter Noblitt Drive as directed.
Afternoon Pick-Up (GPS & CIS)
Display your school-issued placard clearly on the passenger-side visor or dashboard.
Grandy Primary School car riders will be located in the gym.
Camden Intermediate School car riders will remain on their grade-level hallways.
Follow the same routing and queueing procedures shown on the map.
Remain in your vehicle; staff will assist students to their cars at the designated loading zone.
Exit Noblitt Drive only as directed to prevent conflicts with buses and cross traffic.
General Reminders
Speed: Observe posted school-zone speeds and drive distraction-free.
Please follow the directions of the staff members directing traffic.
Buses: Never pass a stopped school bus with its stop arm extendedโon or off campus.
Patience & Courtesy: The first week of a new pattern always takes a little longer. Thank you for your cooperation, as everyone learns the flow.
If you have questions after reviewing the map, please contact your schoolโs main office. We appreciate your partnership as we make arrival and dismissal safer and more efficient for all.
