Adolescent Brain Development and the Role of Social Media On Wednesday October 16, the Poe Center will have a workshop talking about Adolescent Brain Development and the Role of Social Media at Camden County High School from 6pm to 8pm. Program Description: This program examines the impact of social media on emotional, social and physical health. Participants will explore how adolescent brains process information and make decisions and how that impacts their online experience. This session includes the latest research, examines the risk factors and identifies the protective factors to reduce negative aspects online. A discussion on strategies to increase those protective factors and to support empowering youth to make healthy decisions will be covered. Reminder the Blood Drive is Monday, Oct 14th from 12pm - 5pm at Camden Middle School. As autumn sets in, it's the perfect time to give blood and be a part of something bigger than yourself, helping those in need during a season of change. Treat yourself! The American Red Cross will host a Blood Drive on Monday, October 14th from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Camden Middle School. To make an appointment, please visit www.RedCrossBlood.org. Walk-ins are also welcome. Please eat iron rich foods, drink plenty of non-caffeinated fluids, and get a good night's rest before donating blood. PHOTO ID REQUIRED. The need is constant. Camden County Schools will dismiss students tomorrow, Friday, September 27, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. due to potential flooding. All after school activities are also canceled for Friday, the 27th.

Football game has been moved to Thursday, September 26th @ 7:00pm.

Due to road conditions and anticipated continued flooding in portions of our county, Camden County Schools will operate on a two hour delay tomorrow morning, Wednesday, September 18, 2024. There may be certain roads that buses cannot go down or that are unsafe for drivers after 10:00 am. In this case, student absences will be excused but please have a parent/guardian contact the school by 12:00 pm tomorrow to let them know.

We were recently made aware of a potential threat against schools with a Camden reference. We have been in communication with the Camden County Sheriff's Department, and at this time, we have no evidence that it is a credible threat, or even a reference to Camden County Schools in North Carolina. The safety of our students and staff is a priority of Camden County Schools. We are thankful for students and families who support our school system and inform us when they see or hear anything that could potentially impact schools. We encourage you to continue to be vigilant and to communicate any concerns.

Game Day Update The Football game Camden vs Perquimans has been updated. The game will be played on Thursday, August 29th at 6:30pm at Home. Tickets are $8.00 Please wear your best Red, White and Blue to support our BRUINS.

The Camden Board of Education will hold a Special Called meeting on Thursday, August 29, 2024 beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Camden County Library Meeting Room. The purpose of the meeting is 1) to hold a closed session to discuss one or more confidential personnel matters as allowed by N.C.G.S. 143-318.11 (a)(6) and to consult with the Board Attorney regarding matters protected by the attorney/client privilege and to preserve that privilege as allowed by N.C.G.S. 143-318.11(a)(3); 2) to consider the qualifications for potential firms to serve as a construction manager at risk for the High School construction project; 3) to take action in open session to select a construction manager at risk for the high school building project; and 4) to take personnel actions in open session following the closed session."

Due to potential flooding, any Camden County Schools staff that lives in an area of concern and/or experiences flooding may work with their direct supervisor about reporting to the building on Friday, August 9th.

2024 Summer Career Accelerator Camp are still open for registration! Middle School Baking begins June 24th, still a few seats available; High School Baking Camp July 8th and Middle School Interior Design the week of July 22nd with Mrs. Parrish! There is still room in our Career Accelerator Camps, hosted by Jennifer Barclift, multiple weeks still available.
