Wednesday, January 22, 2025, will be a remote learning day for students and 10-month staff due to the threat of winter weather. Students in grades 6-12 should log onto their Canvas accounts to access their work for the day. Students in grades K-5 will have work packets sent home with them today, Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
11 and 12-month employees will now have a two-hour delay tomorrow, Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
If conditions are still not safe after the two-hour delay, please work with your supervisor if you cannot come in or need to report later.

Camden County Board of Education has appointed G. Wayne White to fill Dr. Jason Banksโ Board of Education seat for the remainder of the term.ย
Mr. White served on the Camden County Board of Education from 1998 to 2014, and his tenure on the Board included serving as the Vice-Chairman for two years and as the Chairman for five years, as well as receiving Level I and Level II North Carolina School Boards Association Master Board training. During his time on the Board of Education, he was also a member of the North Carolina School Boards Association All-State School Board for three years and received the Raleigh Dingman Award for North Carolina School Board Association's Outstanding Board Member of the Year, the highest honor given to a North Carolina school board member each year that recognizes leadership at the local, state or federal level.ย
Mr. White has served as a local board advisor to the North Carolina State Board of Education, as a member of the North Carolina Virtual School Board of Directors, and on the Ad Hoc Committee for Superintendent Standards. He has also served on numerous local community boards and organizations, including as the Chairman of the Albemarle Area Salvation Army Advisory Board, the Chairman of the Elizabeth City CrimeLine Board of Directors, a member of the Albemarle Area Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, and as treasurer of the Camden County 4-H Foundation.
Mr. White is a graduate of Camden County High School, class of 1977, and continued his education at the Norfolk Naval Air Rework Facility Apprenticeship School. He then went on to complete 39 years of civil service to both the Naval Aviation Depot and the USCG Aviation Logistics Center. Mr. White is married to Bobbi White and they have two sons, Matthew and Zachary, both of whom are graduates of Camden County High School.ย
Mr. White wants to support public education in Camden County and be a strong advocate for the students, teachers, and staff of Camden County Schools.ย

The Camden County Board of Education will resume its November 14, 2024, regular meeting on November 20, 2024, at 7 p.m. at the Central Office.

The Board of Education for Camden County is accepting applications to fill one vacancy on the Camden County School Board. Anyone interested, qualified, and eligible to serve on the Camden County Board of Education by temporary appointment is required to complete an online application located on our district website (https://www.ccsnc.org).
To be a Qualified Candidate a person must:
โข Be at least 18 years of age;
โข Reside in and be a permanent resident of Camden County; and
โข Be otherwise eligible to hold elective office in North Carolina.
Applicants must complete all required fields on the application. Information submitted in the application is public data and may be subject to release upon request.

We wanted to make everyone aware of an incident that occurred this afternoon. At approximately 3:30pm today, two CCS buses were involved in a minor accident with Grandy Primary School and Camden Intermediate School students. EMS and law enforcement responded and all students and adults were assessed by EMS. There were no major injuries that we are aware of and all students are currently with parents/guardians. We appreciate the patience and support of all the parents and first responders and would like to thank all of the Camden County School employees who quickly responded to the situation. Adolescent Brain Development and the Role of Social Media
On Wednesday October 16, the Poe Center will have a workshop talkingย aboutย Adolescent Brain Development and the Role of Social Media at Camden County High School from 6pm to 8pm.
Program Description:
This program examines the impact of social media on emotional, social and physical health. Participants will explore how adolescent brains process information and make decisions and how that impacts their online experience. This session includes the latest research, examines the risk factors and identifies the protective factors to reduce negative aspects online. A discussion on strategies to increase those protective factors and to support empowering youth to make healthy decisions will be covered. Participants will be equipped with tools and resources to support ongoing conversations.ย
