The Camden County Board of Education will have its regular meeting on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at the Camden County Public Library for various purposes. The Board will hold a closed session at 6:00 p.m. to discuss one or more confidential personnel matters, as allowed by NCGS 143-318.11(a)(1),(3),(5), and (6). The closed session will be followed by an open session at 7:00 p.m. The open session is open to the public in accordance with the North Carolina Open Meetings law. The meeting will be livestreamed.

Camden County Schools Celebrates Continued Growth and Achievement on 2025-2026 State Accountability Data CAMDEN, NC - September 2, 2026 - In accordance with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, Camden County Schools has released its 2025-2026 state accountability performance results, showing increased performance and growth across the district as well as solid performance compared to the state data. Districtwide results reveal an overall grade-level proficiency (GLP) rate of 72.1%, an increase of 7 percentage points from the previous year, and 12.9 percentage points over the state GLP average of 59.2%. Additionally, 46% of students met College and Career Ready (CCR) standards, an increase of 5 percentage points from the previous year, and 8.5 percentage points over the state CCR average of 37.5%. Camden County maintained an impressive high school graduation rate of 93% compared to the state graduation rate of 88.8%. “The results released today are a tremendous source of pride for Camden County Schools and a reflection of the dedication, hard work, and commitment of our students, teachers, school leaders, support staff, families, and community,” said Superintendent Dr. Brandon Ratliff. "To be ranked fourth in the state academically and first in the Northeast Region academically is an outstanding accomplishment and speaks to the strength of the teaching and learning taking place throughout our school system. While we are certainly proud of this recognition, we know that these results are about much more than a ranking. They represent students who are learning and growing, educators who are committed to excellence, and a school community that believes every student can succeed. We will celebrate this achievement while also remaining focused on the work ahead and continuing to find ways to provide every Camden County student with the opportunities, support, and instruction they need to reach their full potential,” said Dr. Ratliff, Superintendent of Camden County Schools. Camden County teachers and students have so much to be proud of. ● Camden Early College High School saw increases in every tested subject with 100% of students achieving grade-level proficiency (GLP) in both NC Math 3 and Biology, and 94% of students achieving GLP in NC Math 1 and English II. The school saw an increase of 40 percentage points in Biology from 60% GLP to 100% this year. With overall school growth of 79.1% and an achievement score of 94.4%, Camden Early College High School proudly scored a school report card grade of A for the 2025-2026 school year. ● Camden County High School is proud to report its highest school performance grade since 2014, when the current North Carolina school accountability report card grade system began. CCHS attained an overall achievement score of 82% and a growth score of 82%, moving from a previous school report card grade of C (67) to a new grade of B (82) and meeting growth for the 2025-2026 school year. The high school improved both GLP and CCR in every tested subject, with gains ranging from 10 to 29 percentage points. ● Camden Middle School celebrates not only its improved overall performance grade, from a C (69) to a B (78), but also tremendous overall student growth. CMS proudly reports 92% growth, exceeding state growth expectations, and improving by 18.8 percentage points over last year's growth outcomes. The overall school grade level performance at CMS saw a 6 percentage point improvement from last year, rising to 74% GLP. In addition to overall growth, CMS improved from a C in both math and reading last year to a B in each area for the 2025-2026 school year. ● Camden Intermediate School continues to focus on individual student growth and achievement. Notable improvements include a 17% improvement in grade level proficiency (GLP) in third grade reading from the previous year and a 9% improvement in GLP in third grade math from the previous year. Overall, the school saw a 4% improvement in performance (65%) and a 10% improvement in growth (60%), with an overall school grade of a C. In Math and Reading, CIS maintains a grade of a C; however, reading saw a 26.5 percentage point gain in growth, bringing their growth score in reading to 81.9%. Camden County Schools is proud of each and every staff member and student for our collective efforts towards growth and continued success. We will continue to review the instructional practices, materials, and initiatives happening in our classrooms to identify areas of sustainable success and opportunities for improvement. The Camden County Board of Education will hold a special meeting on July 28, 2026, beginning at 6:30 p.m.at the Camden County Schools Conference Room (175 NC Hwy 343 North, Camden, NC 27921) for the purpose of holding a closed session as permitted by N.C.G.S. § 143-318.11(a)(6) in order to consider the qualifications, competence, performance, character, fitness, conditions of appointment, or conditions of initial employment of an individual public officer or employee or prospective public officer or employee. No action is expected to be taken after the Board returns to open session. There will not be a public comment segment during the Special Called Meeting, nor will the meeting be livestreamed.
